In response to a lawsuit filed by the ACLU of Louisiana, the Mayor and Police Chief of Ville Platte, Louisiana have agreed to temporarily suspend enforcement of the city's walking curfew. The curfew will be suspended until Tuesday, October 11, 2011, when the City Council will meet to decide whether or not to eliminate it altogether. "This is a preliminary victory for the people of Ville Platte," said ACLU Staff Attorney Justin Harrison. "We hope that on Tuesday the City will permanently restore its residents' freedom to walk the streets of their community."
