Tell Governor Edwards to Protect LGBTQ+ Rights

During the 2023 Legislative Session, Louisiana legislators launched an unprecedented attack on LGBTQ+ Louisianans. Many bills introduced were part of a coordinated, hate-driven campaign to push LGBTQ+ people out of public life, particularly trans youth. Governor John Bel Edwards has the power to stop these attacks on our rights by vetoing these bills - now is the time for us to remind him how important it is to do what’s best for ALL Louisianans.

TAKE ACTION NOW: TELL GOV. EDWARDS TO VETO HATEFUL ANTI-LGBTQ+ BILLS

What bills are included?

  • HB 81 - a bill that forces school officials to use the name & pronouns that correlate with students’ birth certificates
  • HB 466 - Louisiana's version of the 'Don't Say Gay' bill, prohibiting discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity in schools
  • HB 648 - a bill banning gender-affirming care for youth and not allowing exceptions with parental permission
  • SB 7 - an unconstitutional library censorship bill that would restrict access to public library materials and punish libraries that refuse to comply.

Contact Governor Edwards NOW and remind him that hate and discrimination are not Louisiana values.

We will continue to use every tool at our disposal to defend LGBTQ+ rights in Louisiana. LGBTQ+ people belong everywhere, including in our state, and we will not stand for hateful legislation.
