NEW ORLEANS – For the second time the ACLU of Louisiana has issued a letter to the Department of Justice (DOJ) demanding a pattern-or-practice investigation into Louisiana State Police’s (LSP) history of targeted violence and misconduct towards Black people.
NEW ORLEANS – The ACLU of Louisiana issued the following statement regarding body camera footage of Louisiana State Trooper Jacob Brown viciously attacking an unarmed Black man in May 2019. Brown exacted excessive force on Mr. Aaron Bowman, hitting him with a flashlight 18 times in 24 seconds.
NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana state senators voted to overturn Gov. Edwards’ veto of SB 156, which bans transgender youth from participating in school sports consistent with their gender identity. During the session, a group of protesters were pulled away from the chambers by Capitol security.
