After ten years as Executive Director of the ACLU of Louisiana, Marjorie R. Esman has announced that she will retire effective October 31, 2017.
“In the past ten years we’ve accomplished a great deal, in legislative, litigation, and public education efforts that span the range of criminal justice reform, LGBT equality, rights of the incarcerated, and expanding First Amendment protections for the people of Louisiana,” Esman said. “After ten years at the helm, it’s time to turn the work over to new leadership that can steer this organization to even greater heights."
“We are so grateful for the years of Marjorie’s work in advancing civil liberties in Louisiana. The ACLU of Louisiana has been and will remain at the forefront of the fight for justice and equality here in Louisiana,” said Jared Frank, President of the Board of the Louisiana ACLU.
