As the coronavirus pandemic continues to threaten the lives of all Louisianans, people incarcerated in the state’s crowded prisons and jails remain among the most vulnerable to this disease.
On December 26, Alanah Odoms and Robbie Dennis, a father of five who was incarcerated at Angola prison during the height of the pandemic, joined MSNBC's Tiffany Cross to discuss Louisana's ongoing failure to protect incarcerated people from COVID-19.
Since the pandemic began, there have been more than 2,600 COVID-19 cases in Louisiana prisons and 31 deaths. These tragedies could have been prevented by stronger action by state officials to contain the spread and release vulnerable people from these dangerous conditions.
